Taciturn means "reserved or uncommunicative in speech; saying little".
This honestly started out as an attempt to right a nice track but I was getting nowhere. lockdown material has mostly gone into new Before Stories and I'd rather not repeat myself.
So this is a song set in the late teen/early 20's era about repeatedly saying things you regret while at parties.
On occasion I'd try and train myself to be more reserved on nights out in order to avoid saying anything regretful which is where the title comes from.
This also isn't a vague admittance to committing anything shockingly horrible it's about the kind of moments everyone else laughs off and forgets instantly but you hold onto it and judge yourself harshly for it.
There's no other person being referred to in this- It's in the moment vs morning after.
Why? Something different innit.
lyrics
A fog is circling in
I cant help but lose my meaning
There is a warmth inside
Drinks and family all collide
I must remain tongue tied
I must not ruin a good night
Control gets difficult
The drink numbs and watch out here I come
What a great embarrassment
You don't want me near your friends
My words bring around Joy's end
A hopeless pest full of regret
Good times and memories
I play them out in minor keys
A plethoric, tangled mind
If there's a smile there's a fight
In storms we fly our kites
I cant seem to get it right
For every shattered night
I'm left here screaming from inside
I hope you have insecticide
For I'm a leech that steals your pride
A sharp tongued Thorn stuck in your side
A hopeless pest saying sorry all the time
The seed is sown, hamartia diagnosed
A jesters throne, that no one wants exposed
What a great embarrassment
You don't want me near your friends
A hopeless pest waiting for the end
